The Camera Tells it All

Our small group of women have made it safely to our final destination. The fellowship has warmly welcomed us into their city and have settled us into our hotel. Our afternoon is free, which means I can download mentally, physically, and otherwise. Even in the midst of an extrememly harried life at times, the Son took time to withdraw to a solitary place.

If you know me very well, then you know that McD's is not what I consider the most healthy and tasty of foods. In fact, I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a lunch or dinner within the land of Ronald MacDonald. Think for a moment of what you know about the Hindu belief system. Meat, that of a cow, is forbidden. Chicken and fish are okay, but most people living here are vegetarians. YIKES! A bit different to this BBQ loving gal from the South!

On our first day of the conference, I had not had much protein, if any, all day. By the time I had finished leading out in song (two times) and helping out in other areas through the day, I was zapped of energy. Plus, our lunch was a vegetarian meal. I was craving meat. Our host needed to do some market shopping before we headed home and dinner was a few hours off. My ONLY recourse was to run into MacDonald's for a chicken sandwich. Sound easy? Not so much.

After standing in line, if you can call it that, I ordered their version of the grilled chicken sandwich MINUS THE GREEN SAUCE. Not sure what the green sauce was at the time, but the picture was not too appetizing. When the cashier told me it would be 5 minutes for the sandwich, I asked why. His reply? "To take off the sauce, mam, is an extra order." Okay, so what IS the green sauce? "Mint chutney." With people pressing against my back to order, I went ahead and took the grilled chicken with mint chutney sandwich. Admittedly, it's not something I will seek out in the future, but if you are ever in need of a quick protein boost while in India, this will do the trick.
