Taking a New Path

It has been just under one year since C&I arrived and began our life together in this country. We love it! Sure, there are days we want to pull our hair out and catch the next plane headed to the US. But, the bottom line is... this is it. This is where we are committing our lives to the rocky soil. Until we sense a different direction for our lives, we will be sweating it out in the 'feels like' 123 heat. Praises for air conditioners!

This summer, C&I began exploring part-time job options for me. Teaching private piano was the direction we were heading when an opening at a local university caught my attention. This would give me an incredible opportunity to be around people from this region on a regular basis and allow me to develop wonderful friendships (or at least this is the hope). My interview is this coming week. If I am offered the job, it may hinder my plans to journey to India with a small group of women this Fall. Obviously, my desire is to be able to do both--work and go to India. Please ask that I would still be able to go to India if I am offered this position.

News on C:
He is soaking up his last weekday off by watching all of the Olympic coverage he can. We just watched a former coach from his academy compete in an event! None of his students were competing in 2008, but there are several hopefuls in a few events for 2012. Watching the Olympics here is not near as entertaining as watching it in the US. Finding a channel that has English commentary has been rare--I caught the Equestrian competition in English--and the sports highlighted in this part of the world are not necessarily ones we follow in the US. And, do you think they are going to highlight US teams as opposed to their own country or region? Not so much. This has got to be the first Olympics since 1984 that I have not watched the Women's Gymnastic competition. How sad!

C will go back to work on Sunday, but will have 2 weeks before the students arrive for classes. He is ready to be back in the classroom and with his friends. As far as we know, he will be teaching 8th, 9th and possibly 10th grade again this year. Be thinking of him as he reunites with faculty and students.

Pondering Points:
-E; Job interview will go well AND that the employer will allow 7 days off for India.
-C; Concentration as he enters the classroom again; fresh ideas for lesson plans.
-E; have not been able to connect with Holly
